More than 238,000 new consumers have enrolled for private health care insurance via Covered California, officials say. Covered California says it has provided healthcare insurance services to more than 2 million consumers since it began offering coverage in 2014. The state Obamacare operation issued an "Active Member Profile" that categorizes its current 1.3 million current consumers based on ethnicity, age, income, region, county, ZIP code, carrier and metal tier. California uninsured rate slashed

Providing "confirmation that California is making the Affordable Care Act work," a U.S. Census report found that the state's uninsured rate dropped to 12.4 percent in 2014. That's off considerably from the 17.2 percent of 2013, the last year before Obamacare coverage went into effect.
