California uninsured rate slashed

Providing "confirmation that California is making the Affordable Care Act work," a U.S. Census report found that the state's uninsured rate dropped to 12.4 percent in 2014. About 9.9 million people continued with their healthcare insurance via the Affordable Care Act as of the end of June, the federal government said. California had the largest state enrollment, just under 1.4 million. Florida was next with roughly 1.3 million. The 9.9 million was down from 10.2 million reported at the end of the first quarter. The U.S. uninsured rate for health care fell to 11.4 percent in the second quarter of 2015, reflecting sharp declines among minorities and lower-income groups, researchers say.
