Covered Cal welcomes 238,000

More than 238,000 new consumers have enrolled for private health care insurance via Covered California, officials say. The report comes as the third Obamacare enrollment period enters its final month. Average $969 penalty in 2016

The penalty for failing to have health insurance is going up, perhaps even higher than you expected. California uninsured rate slashed

Providing "confirmation that California is making the Affordable Care Act work," a U.S. Census report found that the state's uninsured rate dropped to 12.4 percent in 2014. That's off considerably from the 17.2 percent of 2013, the last year before Obamacare coverage went into effect. About 9.9 million people continued with their healthcare insurance via the Affordable Care Act as of the end of June, the federal government said.
