Special enrollment through July 31

Covered California’s special enrollment period continues through the end of July. The added time is designed to help uninsured residents in the extraordinary time of the Covid-19 crisis.

Special enrollments usually are restricted to “qualified life events,” such as marriage or the birth of a child.

Covered California said the extension will also apply to consumers who enroll in off-exchange plans, “to ensure that people enrolling in the entire individual market in California will have access to coverage during the pandemic.”

More than 175,000 people signed up for coverage through Covered California since it announced the special-enrollment period, the Obamacare operation said in announcing the extension in late June. The special enrollment ends Friday, July 31.
