Anthem Blue Cross says it has added more than 3,800 providers to its Obamacare network. New health care facilities include the world-class Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The additions come as the major insurers working with Covered California have been criticized for offering severely restricted networks to those who bought private insurance via the state Obamacare exchange.
Anthem said major health-care facilities now available via its exchange network include Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Keck Hospital of USC, UC Davis Medical Center and the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Hospital.
“Network access is subject to geographic limitations and plan selection,” Anthem says. The new resources also are available to those who bought a PPO or EPO plan directly through Anthem.
About 425,000 California consumers bought Anthem insurance under the state’s Affordable Care Act exchange.
